Covid-19 testing
COVID-19 testing
What are the types of tests for COVID-19?
Real Time RT-PCR test
Also called a molecular test, the RT-PCR COVID-19 test detects the genetic material of the virus using a laboratory technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A sample is collected from the patient with the help of a swab, from the nose and mouth, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal collection.
For a precise result, it is better not to eat or drink anything 3-4 hours before harvesting.
The result is available on the same day if the collection is made between 8:00-14:00, from Monday to Friday. The samples are processed in the partner laboratory German Diagnosis from Craiova.
When should I take a COVID-19 test?
- When you have symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, fatigue or difficulty breathing;
- You do not have symptoms, but you have had contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 or is suspected of having the virus. Close contact means you were 2 meters from a person who has COVID-19. If you have been fully vaccinated and had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, get tested 3 to 5 days after you had contact with them;
- You have participated in activities that increase your risk of COVID-19 and have not stayed at least 6 meters away from others – examples include travelling, large gatherings or indoor crowds.
NOTES:
- No appointment is required for the RT-PCR test COVID-19 and the Rapid Antigen test COVID-19.
- You will receive the test result by email in Romanian and English.
- If you received a positive result from the Rapid Antigen COVID-19 or RT-PCR COVID-19 test, you will be contacted by the DSP. The German Diagnose laboratory sends all test results to the Corona-forms platform.
- Based on the negative result of a test, a Green Certificate can be generated for travel in the European Union, on the official website certificat-covid.gov.ro.
